Veggie Platter Perfection
Follow a few simple tips to make your veggie tray the Most Valuable Platter of your game-day spread.
- Put a little twist on the traditional ranch dressing dip. Add a little pesto and a squeeze of lemon juice to ranch dressing to give a new flavor to a crowd favorite.
- Use a variety of different veggies for color and to please everyone’s tastes. For an added visual impact, scatter dried fruit and mixed olives across the platter.
- Preparing your platter ahead of time will get you out of the kitchen quickly. To preserve crispness, put damp paper towels on top of veggies so they don't dry out.
- Take your veggie platter a step up on the flavor scale. For green beans, broccoli and cauliflower quickly blanch the vegetables and follow with an ice bath. Then toss them with a small amount of olive oil, salt, pepper and some dried chili flakes to impress guests and liven up the platter.
