Bill Durling is the senior director of corporate communications for Sam's Club. A member of the company since February 2013, Bill leads the development of the overall communications strategy.
Prior to joining Sam's Club, Bill accumulated more than 25 years of experience leading corporate and agency communications teams in technology, healthcare and financial services. His expertise ranges across public relations, internal communications, brand reputation and executive communications.
Bill joined Sam’s Club from State Street Corporation, where he was a vice president of communications. Prior to State Street, he led internal and executive communications for EMC Corporation. He served as global vice president of corporate communications for Nortel Networks and directed corporate communications for S&P 500 software company Rational Software.
He spent five years at PR agency Weber Shandwick providing counsel to technology companies and managed the sports marketing program for a sponsor of the World Cup in France. Before joining Weber Shandwick he was at Hewlett-Packard for seven years, and spent half that time in Europe.
An award-winning writer and former speechwriter for a Fortune 200 CEO, Bill has counseled senior executives on corporate culture, reputation management, crisis communications and employee engagement.
Bill holds a bachelor of arts in english from the University of New Hampshire. He and his wife Susan have three children.
