Whitney was named senior vice president – Sam’s Club general counsel, asset protection and compliance in September 2010.
Since joining the company in 1997, Whitney has been an in-house commercial and employment trial lawyer and served in legal roles supporting class-action wage and hour case management, the Office of Diversity, and in 2005 was named Sam’s Club general counsel. She received the Sam M. Walton Award of Excellence in 2012.
Whitney represents Walmart as the corporate liaison to the National Bar Association and serves as an officer sponsor for the Tribal Voices Associate Resource Group. In addition, she is committed to serving her community and profession as an active member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the National Association of Women Lawyers.
Before joining Walmart, Whitney was a corporate litigator with a law firm in Houston, Texas. She has a bachelor of arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law.
