Peoria Sam’s Club Donates $10,000 to Peoria Chamber of Commerce

BENTONVILLE, ARK., Sept. 8, 2011– Sam’s Club today announced it is donating $10,000 to the Peoria Chamber of Commerce as the result of a campaign held during National Small Business Week. The national campaign resulted in 11 local donations across the U.S., which were determined by the number of volunteer hours logged by club managers working in small businesses in their communities.

Peoria Sam’s Club assistant manager, Jocelyn Doyle, volunteered at the New Twist Liquor Store. She helped dust bottles, rearranged merchandise and filled ice bags. She said she was impressed with the family owned liquor store. “They run the business themselves and only have two employees,” said Doyle.

The Peoria Chamber of Commerce plans on using the Sam’s Club donation to support small businesses with programs to help them be more successful.

“The Peoria Chamber of Commerce is excited to work with Sam’s Club to better support small businesses in the community,” said Tom Fliege, chairman of The Peoria Chamber of Commerce.

Members of The Chamber and the leadership team from Sam’s Club will be on hand Sept. 8 at 9 a.m., for the check presentation at the Sam’s Club, located at 4100 W. Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria.
