DAVENPORT, Iowa - Associates of Davenport’s Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB today donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross of the Quad Cities to support the organization’s flood-relief efforts.
Contributing are the Davenport Wal-Mart discount store, 3785 Elmore Ave., and the Davenport SAM’S CLUB, 3887 Elmore Ave.
"The severe flooding in the Quad Cities this spring has challenged us to reach out even more to our neighbors in need," said Tony Ciabattoni, manager of the Davenport Wal-Mart discount store. "Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB associates in this area have done a remarkable job of providing aid to their communities, and we’re so pleased to know the Red Cross will use these funds to help many flood victims get back on their feet."
In addition, local Wal-Mart associates have donated bottled water and food to volunteers placing sandbags at the river’s edge, and cleaning supplies to the Scott County Health Dept.
Last week, Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB associates in Wisconsin presented a $25,000 check to Gov. Scott McCallum for the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Red Cross to assist in flood relief in that state.
