Sam's Club Opens First Bentonville Location
Home Town Club Features Enhanced Selection, Services and Sustainability

BENTONVILLE, ARK., September 21, 2006 – Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and one of the nation’s largest warehouse clubs will open its first local facility at 3500 S.E. Club Blvd. in Bentonville, Ark., just minutes from its home office.

An exclusive tour for the news media is planned at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26 during which 18 local charities and community organizations will receive grants totaling $33,250. Business Members are invited to attend a breakfast and club preview Wednesday, Sept. 27. Grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies begin at 9:45 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, and world-renown chef Wolfgang Puck is scheduled to visit the club from noon to 4 p.m. as part of the festivities.

“We are excited to be serving the needs of our growing Northwest Arkansas community with a new Sam’s Club in Bentonville,” said Kyle Kinnard, club manager. “We believe both our existing members in the region, as well as shoppers unfamiliar with warehouse clubs, will enjoy and find value in our selection of fresh foods, brand name electronics, jewelry and exciting treasure hunt items. In addition, as the community continues to grow, we expect to be able to serve the increasing number of new businesses in the area as a partner to help them cut costs and achieve success.”

Some of the Bentonville Sam’s Club new features include:
  • Expedited pick-up process for “Fax ‘n Pull” and “Click ‘n Pull” orders. Merchandise and supplies can be loaded directly into member vehicles under a canopy.
  • Expanded Café menu including spring mix salads and deli sandwiches.
  • LED (light-emitting diode) lights in the freezer/coolers and jewelry section enhance merchandise display and require only a fraction of the electricity used by standard lamps and reduce maintenance. 54 additional skylights maximize the use of natural daylight.
  • Outside, a new Sam’s Club logo graces the entry as part of an effort to refresh and update branding.

Sam’s Club offers a variety of services including health insurance, merchant credit card processing and travel services as well as other programs. Both Business and Advantage Members can save even more on club services and purchases with a Plus Membership earning up to two percent cash back by using a Sam’s Club Discover card.
