Tyler Texas Business Wins $100,000 Makeover

BENTONVILLE, Ark., June 9, 2008— Wayne McIntyre, owner of McIntyre Plumbing located in Tyler, Texas is the winner of the $100,000 Small Business Makeover offered by Sam’s Club, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and

As the winner, McIntyre and his wife Ginger are in Washington, D.C. this week for NFIB’s 2008 National Small Business Summit June 8-11. In addition to $25,000 in cash, he will also receive merchandise, supplies and equipment from Sam’s Club or, mentoring from experts and a lifetime membership to the NFIB as part of the prize package.

McIntyre started his plumbing business in 1985 and he employs 18 people including his wife and two grown sons. "We still can't believe we won the contest," he says. "This is a huge opportunity for my business and family, and we are looking forward to visiting the capitol and working with NFIB, and Sam's Club. Times are tough in Tyler, Texas right now, and I intend to share what I learn with other small business and community leaders."

McIntyre will share the same stage as Republican Presidential Nominee and U.S. Sen. John McCain who is scheduled to appear June 10. McIntyre will be acknowledged during the NFIB morning session at approximately 8:30 a.m.

McIntyre was one of several thousands of small business owners who entered the $100,000 Small Business Makeover contest during National Small Business Week in April, which included the opportunity to participate in an Invoice Challenge at Sam’s Club. McIntyre typically purchases office supplies, cleaning supplies as well as personal needs for his home at Sam’s Club.

In a recent survey of 2,500 Sam’s Club Business Members, 37 percent estimated they save more than $1,000 per year shopping at Sam’s Club. Approximately 70 percent estimate they make up their annual membership fee on their purchases every month.
