BENTONVILLE, ARK. August 6, 2008 – Sam’s Club has named Dedra N. Dogan vice president of its People Division. She is responsible for field human resources for the 110,000 Associates in 595 Sam’s Clubs nationwide. Previously, Dogan was the group vice president of human resources at Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., and from 2003 to 2005, she served as vice president of field and corporate human resources.
Before moving to Florida, Dogan was the director of human resources for Auto Zone Stores, Inc, based in Memphis, TN, and from 1993 to 1999, she was employed by the Department of Defense, where she managed the civil service employment function for Marine Corps Air Stations El Toro and Miramar in Southern California as each restructured under Base Realignment and Closure.
A New Orleans native, Dogan attended Ursuline Academy, becoming its first black senior class president. She was awarded academic and athletic scholarships and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Loyola University of the South, graduating from business school with high honors from National University in San Diego. Dogan has served as a board member of the Jacksonville Urban League and Students in Free Enterprise, among others. She was a member of the North Florida Diversity Council, and is a long-time member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
