NFL Players Celebrate Sam's Club Grand Opening

Garden City Hosts Broncos Linebacker DJ Williams and former Chiefs Quarterback Steve DeBerg as Doors Open

BENTONVILLE, ARK., October 13, 2008 –Sam’s Club, a division of Walmart Stores Inc., will open a new facility at 3010 Larue St., Garden City, KS. The new location marks the 8th Sam’s Club location in Kansas.

Grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies begin at 9:45 a.m., Thursday, October 23. To celebrate the newest Sam’s Club location and the NFL season, Broncos Linebacker DJ Williams will visit the Club for photo and autograph opportunities on October 25 at noon. Additionally, former Chiefs Quarterback, Steve DeBerg, is scheduled to appear and sign autographs on October 23 at noon.

Prior to Sam’s Club grand opening for the public, an exclusive tour for news media is planned at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21 during which eight local charities and community organizations will receive grants totaling $18,000.

Business Members are invited to attend a breakfast and Club preview Wednesday, October 22. New and current Business Members will have opportunity to learn about employee health insurance, fax-n-pulltm, Gold Key Hours and other services provided by third party vendors to help their businesses thrive.

“We are excited to serve the needs of the Garden City community with a new Sam’s Club,” said BJ McAllister, Club Manager. “We believe existing Members in the region, as well as shoppers unfamiliar with warehouse clubs, will enjoy and find value in our selection of fresh foods, brand name electronics and jewelry. We also expect to better serve the growing number of small businesses in Garden City and the surrounding areas by helping them to cut costs and achieve further success.”

The new Club also has a host of sustainable features. The white TPO roof is energy star rated and includes 158 skylights. The interior lights automatically and continuously dim over the sales floor as the daylight contribution increases. The skylights will help save approximately 150,000 kilowatt hours per year.

Both Business and Advantage Members can save even more on Club services and purchases with a PLUS Membership earning up to two percent cash back by using a Sam’s Club Discover card.

Regular Club hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Gold Key Hours for Business Members are 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
