Free Tech Support, Delivery and Installation Added To Enhance Member Satisfaction
BENTONVILLE, Ark., Sept. 23, 2009— Sam’s Club has launched a free technical support service nationwide that covers a broad range of consumer electronics and is also offering delivery and installation packages to its members for purchase. The new program has been piloted over the past year to better meet members’ needs and satisfaction with electronic purchases. With the addition of the new services, effective Nov. 1, 2009, electronics returns will be required within 90 days at Sam’s Club.
“The Sam’s Club Tech Expert support program has been received positively by our members and we are excited to be making it more widely available,” said Steve Dacus, senior vice president, Electronics and Technology at Sam’s Club. “We believe the new program and changes are in line with our other member services, and allow us to continue to invest in offering high quality leading name brand electronics at superior values.”
Sam’s Club Tech Experts provide assistance to members with questions from installation and set up to trouble shooting. In addition, Sam’s Club is offering home delivery starting at $50 and basic installation packages starting at $89. Fees vary by package and market. Members can get free tech support on any electronics item even if they did not purchase it at Sam’s Club. Free delivery is available on some electronics merchandise offered online at samsclub.com.
With the addition of these services, Sam’s Club will accept electronics returns within 90 days on items including televisions, computers, cameras, camcorders, projectors and iPods. Sam’s Club surveyed more than 5,000 current members and they overwhelmingly agreed -- with 86 percent reporting -- that a return limit of 90 days for electronics was acceptable.
All member electronics purchases made prior to Nov. 1, 2009 will be grandfathered under the existing return policy. Members can learn more about Sam’s Club Tech Experts at samsclub.com/installations.
