New Club Brings Jobs, Career Opportunities

Sam’s Club plans to employ approximately 220 associates including approximately 50 new associate jobs created by the relocation. Born in Wisconsin, club manager Ken Billings started his career in management training at the Grand Island, Nebraska Sam’s Club in 1992. He has worked for the company for 18-years at Clubs in Casper, Wy. and Wichita, Kan. before becoming a Club co-manager in St. Louis, Mo. and club manager in Waterloo, Iowa in early 2009.

Sam’s Club Commitment to Sustainability

In keeping with the Sam’s Club commitment to the environment, the new facility was constructed with energy-efficient technology and environmentally friendly features to reduce energy and water consumption and minimize waste. Members will notice the carefully-planned landscaping, extensive plantings of greenery, plants and flowers in keeping with area’s gardens.

One way the new Club eliminates energy waste is with daylight-harvesting skylights that reduce the amount of energy used. While it is not open 24-hours, it is occupied 24-hours per day. During the hours when it is closed, the light level is reduced by more than 50 percent. LED lighting is also used throughout the Club, including in the cooler/freezer box doors and jewelry counter.

Sam’s Club Supports Community Organizations

Sam’s Club gives back to the communities it serves. Associates from the Sartell Sam’s Club will present $10,800 in grants to local charitable organizations as part of the grand opening festivities. Recipients include:

  • City of Sartell Fire Department
  • City of Sartell Police Department
  • City of Sartell Parks and Recreation Department
  • Sartell School District 748
  • Sartell-St. Stephen Educational Foundation

Sam’s Club will also fight hunger in the Sartell area by making regular product donations to the Second Harvest Heartland, which serves 59 counties throughout the state of Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. The program is part of a partnership between Sam’s Club and Feeding America. Sam’s Club locations across the country regularly donate perishable food items to area hunger relief agencies, helping fight hunger in their communities and reducing food waste.
