WASHINGTON, Pa., Oct. 1, 2010 – Sam’s Club enhances the shopping experience at its Washington location as it unveils a fresh, new look this week that expands popular categories. In addition to offering new items, the club’s layout has been modified to make shopping easier and faster by placing the most purchased products in more convenient locations. These changes bring the Sam’s Club brand—Savings Made Simplesm—to life on both the interior and exterior of the facility. The company expects to remodel 150 facilities similarly this year.
“We listened to our members and expanded the departments that are most important to them, such as fresh foods, meat, baby care and the health and wellness area,” said Dave Opfer, club manager. “This is one more way we can give our members superior value and an exceptional shopping experience. Our new layout makes shopping simple.”
The Washington Sam’s Club is carrying a wider selection of baby food and diapers for newborns in addition to larger sizes. The baby care area is now next to the health and wellness department, which offers more over the counter medicines and health and beauty aids.
Near the grocery items is an expanded assortment of produce that includes convenient sliced fruits, and more meats such as ground turkey. Some of the finest artisan cheese products from England, France, Ireland, Italy and Spain will be available in the new fresh department as well.
Jewelry will be located near apparel to accommodate member requests to shop these categories together, and movies and music will move to the electronics department.
Even with all the changes, Sam’s Club still guarantees 100 percent member satisfaction and exceptional quality at a superior value. A 2009 study found Sam’s Club saves members, on average, 30.4 percent on some of the most frequently purchased product categories versus grocery and specialty retailers.*
For Plus Members, shoppers can enter the Club earlier and take advantage of extended shopping hours, starting at 7 a.m.
