DENVER, Colo., July 23, 2010 – Sam’s Club improves the shopping experience at Denver and Aurora locations as it unveils a fresh, new look. These changes are designed to improve the shopping experience and bring the Sam’s Club brand—Savings Made Simple—to life in 150 clubs in the next year. The new design is based on feedback from members and will feature a clean, open and bright new look. The layout also makes shopping easier and faster by placing the most purchased products in more convenient locations. The exterior is updated with a new paint scheme and the new Sam’s Club logo.
“We listened to our members and expanded the departments that are most important to them, such as fresh foods, meat, baby care and health and wellness products,” said Britt Benton, market manager. “This is one more way we can give our members superior value and an exceptional shopping experience. Our new layout makes shopping simple.”
In Aurora, the project will be completed by August 20, while in Denver, construction should be completed by August 27.
Some of the finest artisan cheese products from England, France, Ireland, Italy and Spain, including Parmiagiano Reggiano aged for a minimum of two years and the Irish Dairy Board’s Ballyshannon Cheddar will be part of the expanded fresh department. The additional product will include both regular and special seasonal items to complement Sam’s Club domestic cheese offering, which include sliced deli cheese as well as hard and soft cheeses. Savings on consumables are important to Sam’s Club members. Therefore, shoppers will find more over-the-counter medicines, health and beauty aids and baby items. It will carry baby food for the first time and add a line of smaller diapers. These areas will be adjacent to grocery items.
Jewelry will be near apparel and books to accommodate female shoppers who have said they enjoy shopping these three categories together. Movies and music move to the electronics department.
Sam’s Club hasn’t stopped with product assortment. Its goal is to provide a superior shopping experience for members, including faster checkouts, friendlier associates, cleaner clubs and an exciting shopping experience that is uniquely Sam’s Club.
“The change is a signal to our members that we are listening. We are putting what they need at the heart of our club and working hard to make our clubs as relevant to their needs as possible,” Benton said.
A recent study found Sam’s Club saves consumers, on average, 30.4 percent on some of the most frequently purchased product categories versus grocery and specialty retailers.*
Shopping Made Simple
Efforts will be made, with additional signage and associates assisting members find products, to make it easy for members as they continue shopping at the club during the remodel process. As well, the majority of construction and moving will be completed during the overnight hours to help minimize the disruption to shoppers.
To make shopping easier during construction, members can use samsclub.com personal shopping service, Click ‘n’ Pull®. At no additional cost, customers can order items online to be picked up at the club. If ordered by 5 p.m., they can pick up their complete shopping order of items at their local Sam’s Club the following day. Click ‘n’ Pull is an easy way to fit exceptional savings in an already busy schedule.
For Plus Members, shoppers can enter the Club earlier and take advantage of extended shopping hours, starting at 7 a.m.
August Open House
Everybody can experience the new look and layout Aug. 6 – 8 as Sam’s Club hosts an Open House. Non-members can shop at Sam’s Club without a membership and enjoy the benefits of warehouse savings including 10 percent discounts.
