New Club Brings Jobs, Career Opportunities
Sam’s Club plans to employ approximately 170 associates including 30 new associate jobs created by the relocation. Raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, club manager Scott Williams started his career as a part-time cart pusher in Matthews, North Carolina. He has worked for the company for 20 years at clubs and became the Jacksonville Sam’s Club manager in early 2009.
Sam’s Club Commitment to Sustainability
In keeping with the Sam’s Club commitment to the environment, the new facility was constructed with energy-efficient technology and environmentally friendly features to reduce energy and water consumption and minimize waste.
One of the ways the new Club eliminates energy waste is with daylight-harvesting skylights that reduce the amount of energy used. While it is not open 24-hours, it is occupied 24-hours per day. During the hours when it is closed, the light level is reduced by more than 50 percent. LED lighting is also used throughout the Club, including in the cooler/freezer box doors and jewelry counter.
Sam’s Club Supports Community Organizations
As part of Sam’s Club commitment to give back to the communities it serves, associates from the Jacksonville Sam’s Club will present $3,750 in grants to local charitable organizations as part of the grand-opening festivities.
Sam’s Club will also fight hunger in the Jacksonville area by making regular product donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank Network of Southeast North Carolina, which serves 15 counties in the state of North Carolina.
The program is part of a partnership between Sam’s Club and Feeding America. Sam’s Club locations across the country regularly donate perishable food items to area hunger relief agencies, helping fight hunger in their communities and reducing food waste.
