Giving: Mission and history
Our mission

Sam’s Club supports community-based programs that empower young people, families and small businesses to make smart choices that lead to healthy and bright futures. Through cash and in-kind donations as well as the dedication of our Associates, we are committed to making an impact in three areas that align with who we are as a company, and with the passions and interests of our more than 47 million Members.

Youth Entrepreneurship Education

Our children represent our future. We believe they should have every opportunity to pursue their dreams, that nothing should hold them back from reaching their full potential. That’s why we partner with organizations dedicated to providing children with the education, skills and self-confidence needed to do just that.

Small Business Support

Small businesses are the very essence of the American dream and we’re proud to assist people as they start and build their operations. The success of small businesses represents success and growth for our communities. We support and work with organizations that enable us to support small businesses across America.

Health and Wellness

From reducing the prevalence of childhood obesity to early detection and prevention of disease, we are committed to helping people get well and stay healthy. Together with like-minded organizations, we seek to educate on health issues and provide resources needed for all to be well.

How we give

Sam's Club is committed to making an impact in areas that align with who we are as a company, and with the passions and interests of more than 47 million members through cash and in-kind donations as well as the dedication of our Associates.

In 2011, Sam’s Club and the Sam’s Club Giving Program made cash and in-kind contributions of more than $101.3 million which included donating more than 38 million meals. We support community-based programs that empower young people, families and small business owners.

This holiday we are pledging up to $1 million to help families through the Salvation Army and small business owners strive for growth with SCORE. Together with our Associates and the Off The Field Players’ Wives Association, we expect to give more than 500 people a holiday meal, gifts and necessities as well as business critical tools and access to mentoring for a year.
