Giving: Mission and history

5280 Waste Solutions, Englewood Colorado

As an employee of a struggling waste solutions company, Shaun Hollis decided he needed to do something to keep the business afloat. His belief in the company coupled with determination and perseverance drove his success. He teamed up with Bill Bradley, a seasoned businessman, and purchased, rebranded, and resurrected the business.

5280 Waste Solutions is the result. The company provides roll-off services - with a strong green focus - specializing in LEED construction projects and recycling for a better environment.

When Hollis and Bradley tried to find affordable financing to purchase the business, they were faced with a daunting challenge. In conjunction with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Community Reinvestment Fund, USA (CRF)stepped in and provided a $675,000 loan, made possible in part due to a $500,000 grant from Sam’s Club.

Our Vision

We believe our nation’s smallest businesses should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, thrive and succeed as their impact is big, empowering families, communities and our economy.

Our Mission

We work to connect small business owners with the training, resources and capital they need to grow and sustain successful enterprises.

How we give

We invest in programs that connect existing small business owners – especially women, minorities and veterans – with the resources and tools they need to increase their revenue, create jobs and invest in their families and communities. By helping the owners of our nation’s smallest businesses – those with 1-5 employees – succeed, we are helping families save for college or purchase a home. We are empowering the creation of new, local jobs, the development of vital new products and services, and the establishment of a network of businesses engaged with their community and dedicated to its success.
